While we typically recommend a full home energy audit service to our clients, we realize there is sometimes a specific problem with their home. Each home energy audit service contains a number of tests and evaluations. GreenEdge now offers each of these tests individually. These services include, but are not limited to a Blower Door Test, Duct Leakage Test, Thermal Infrared Scan, Combustion Appliance Testing and General Consulting Services.
Building Forensics – We can get to the root of the problem with our building forensic investigations. GreenEdge has vast experience in the construction, renovation and building science industry. We would be more than happy to be a consultant in any specific job you may have. These services are billed on a hourly basis and jobs over a certain distance will also be billed mileage.
Blower Door Test – This test is great for testing how leaky your home is. If your home is too leaky, then it’s inefficient. If the home is too air tight (with no planned ventilation), then you could have poor indoor air quality. The goal is to find a balance between efficiency and safety. This test is included in the Home Energy Audit, HERS Index Rating (RESNET) and the ENERGY STAR Certified Home Rating.
Duct Leakage Test – Most existing homes have very leaky ducts. This means your HVAC system is not able to distribute the conditioned air efficiently, which leads to more wear and tear on your equipment and potential comfort concerns. Our Duct Leakage test will measure the amount of leakage you are getting within the building envelope and leakage to the outdoors (if you have duct work running outside the building envelope). This test is already included in the ENERGY STAR Certified Home Rating and can be added to the Home Energy Audit and HERS Index Rating (RESNET) for a reduced fee.
